Annual fundraiser sets new HSMC record

humae society The numbers are in and this year’s Humane Society of Montgomery County (HSMC) annual spring fundraiser set new highs for HSMC fundraising efforts. “Mutts & Martinis, An Evening Under the Stars,” raised more than $123,000 in total funds and saw an attendance of more than 230 people. This year’s event honored long-time community leader and HSMC supporter Nelda Blair. Blair has been involved with HSMC for many years and has continuously provided financial support as well as assisting in efforts to raise community awareness of the need to help and care for all the orphaned, abandoned animals in the area.

A special guest appearance by Stump, the 2009 Westminster Kennel Club’s Best in Show winner, thrilled and delighted guests.

The Humane Society of Montgomery Company provides residents of Montgomery County with programs and services including pet adoptions, low cost spay and neuter services, lost pet services, humane education, and shelter services to approximately 2,500 lost, abandoned and abused animals each year. The HSMC is a 501c(3) non-profit organization and does not receive any government funding. HSMC depends on the generosity of the community to fund its programs which help with the ever-increasing medical and maintenance costs that are incurred every day.
