| Traffic sting targets speeders in Magnolia |
|
On July 29 the Montgomery County Pct. 5 Constables Office conducted a traffic initiative focusing on cutting down on speeding vehicles in the Magnolia area. The initiative focused on areas from SH 249 to the Nichols Sawmill area. Between the times of 6 and 9 a.m. deputies made 65 traffic stops.
The traffic initiative also resulted in one felony arrest and one towed vehicle. A 27-year-old male of Tomball was arrested by Lt. Glen Arnold and Dep. Jeff Buchanan for a parole violation for the original charge of delivery of methamphetamine. The suspect was also charged with failure to identify when he refused to give deputies his correct information. He was booked into Montgomery County Jail without further incident.
“Speeding is a major contributor to accidents in the Magnolia area, and although not our primary function at the Constables Department, I feel that traffic enforcement is critical to reducing accidents,” Constable David Hill stated.
