Q: How do you feel about being the new principal?
I feel so blessed and honored to be the principal of Smith Elementary School. This is a beautiful school with incredible teachers and precious children.
Q: What are some things you hope to accomplish in your new position?
As principal, it is my goal to work with the teachers, parents and the community to support our students in achieving success. I will strive to encourage teachers to be exemplary in their daily instruction and maintain a high level of student expectation. Additionally, I will support the teachers of Smith Elementary as they strive to reach these goals.
Q: What teaching philosophies do you stand by?
It is important for teachers to differentiate instruction so that all types of learners will be successful. I also believe that a teacher must never give up on a child. Through perseverance and love, children can experience success on a daily basis.
Q: What are your favorite hobbies or interests?
I love to spend time with my family. I have been married for 19 years and I have four children, who are all in MISD schools, my youngest is here at Smith Elementary in Kindergarten. I also love to cook and read when we aren't attending a football game, volleyball game, basketball game, baseball game or cheer event!
Q: What is your favorite thing about teaching?
The best thing about teaching is that you are able to make a difference in the world, one child at a time.
