| TOMAGWA to kick up its heels for annual ball |
|
The annual TOMAGWA “Boots, Buckles & Band-Aid Ball” is scheduled for Nov. 6 from 6 to 11 p.m. at Wyndehaven Terrace, 12716 Cutten Rd. in Houston. Tickets are $75 per person, and seating is limited. This refined western event offers a twist of fun, food, silent and live auctions and dancing. This year TOMAGWA is honoring Leora and Teddy Klein with their inaugural “Commnity Spirit Award.” The goal for the evening is to provide direct support to TOMAGWA HealthCare Ministries – a non-profit, minimal-fee clinic that provides health care to low-resource, uninsured individuals and families who do not qualify for Medicaid or Medicare. TOMAGWA receives no government or United Way funding. The “2009 Boots, Buckles & Band-Aid Ball” is the primary fund-raising event for TOMAGWA. TOMAGWA began in 1989 as a grassroots movement started by a group of citizens from Tomball, Magnolia and Waller. The clinic has expanded over the years from a part-time facility operated by a small group of volunteers to a full-time, comprehensive family practice center utilizing a small staff along with more than 190 volunteers. TOMAGWA is the only facility of its kind within its 460-square mile service area. It is estimated that 1 in 4 people are without medical coverage in the clinic’s service area. Since TOMAGWA relies on the ongoing financial donations of the community, plan to attend the “2009 Boots, Buckles & Band-Aid Ball.”
