TRMC places restrictions on hospital visitors

For the health and safety of patients, Tomball Regional Medical Center has placed new visitation restrictions because of growing concerns about the spread of H1N1 and seasonal flu.

Under the new restrictions, unless needing medical care, children under the age of 14 should not visit the hospital, including waiting areas.

Visitation with a patient is limited to a maximum of four people and may be further restricted based on a patient’s location and medical needs.

Visitors who have had symptoms such as fever, sore throat, cough, shortness of breath, a rash or diarrhea in the past 24 hours are asked not to visit.

“We are implementing these temporary restrictions to prevent further outbreaks of the flu,” said Lynn LeBouef, President and CEO of Tomball Regional. “Our patients are our main priority.”

“These restrictions also protect the health and safety of the professionals who provide care to our patients,” LeBouef added.

To help prevent the spread of the flu, the hospital is urging all visitors to keep their hands clean. Hand sanitizer stations are available throughout the hospital.
