TISD approves ’09 summer programs

The Tomball Independent School District Board of Trustees approved the subjects and dates for its 2009 Summer Instructional Program at a Feb. 10 meeting.

 

Classes will be held this summer for students who need to re-take certain subjects, students re-taking portions of the TAKS test and for students wishing to develop special skills, including English.

 

The following classes and dates were approved as follows:

 

Elementary/Intermediate Summer School: June 9 – July 2, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tomball Elementary, K-6 students, for reading and math, no tuition.

 

Bilingual Summer School: June 9 – July 10, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tomball Elementary, PreK-6 LEP students, reading and math, no tuition.

 

Special Education Extended School Year: June 29 – Aug. 7, Tomball Elementary/Tomball High School; all eligible students are determined by Admission, Review and Dismissal Committee, no tuition.

 

Secondary Summer School: June 22 – July 9 (Session I), July 13 – July 30 (Session II), 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Tomball High School, grades 7-12, $150 per session.

 

Exit Level TAKS Prep Summer Session: July 6-9, 8 a.m. to noon, Tomball High School, English, math, science, social studies, no tuition.

 

Exit Level TAKS Retest: English/Language Arts – July 14, Math – July 15, Science – July 16, Social Studies – July 17; 8 a.m., Tomball High School.

 

ESL Summer Program: July 22 – July 9 (Session I), July 13 – July 30 (Session II), 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., Tomball High School; for Spanish speaking students currently enrolled in grades 6-10, non-credit program, no tuition.

 

Algebra Camp: July 27 – Aug. 5, 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., Tomball High School; for students currently enrolled in eighth grade and scheduled to take Algebra I, $25 tuition.

 

Writing Camp: June 8 – June 12, 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., Tomball High school; for students enrolled in fourth through eighth grades who are interested in developing their writing skills, $25 tuition.
