Strange things are afoot at the Greater Tomball Area Chamber of Commerce (GTACC) and history, along with various types of time travel, is definitely involved. Leo & Freddie’s Excellent Adventure, taking a cue from the modern classic, Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, (1989) will premiere at the 2010 GTACC Chairman’s Ball on Friday, Jan. 29.
“I think we are all ready to have a little fun. This theme allows us that opportunity along with the serious business of honoring our own personal heroes,” Chamber Chair-Elect Leo Corley said. “I think it is very fitting that the Chamber’s Citizen of the Year will also be presented at a venue filled with hundreds of people dressed as history’s most memorable and influential people.”
Earlier this month, the Chamber named David Quinn as its 2009 Citizen of the Year.
Beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Tomball Grand Pavilion, 26511 SH 249, history will be revisited, repeated and maybe even rewritten, just as the two characters in the movie did when they set out to prepare for a history exam. Fate took the two teens time traveling in a phone booth to visit historical figures.
In Leo & Freddie’s Excellent Adventure, Chamber members and guests are invited to come as their favorite historical figure and join the evening’s journey that promises as many surprises as the movie’s memorable quotes including: “Be excellent to each other. And party on dudes!”
The following sponsorships for the ball are available:
• Einstein - $2,500 for table of eight with preferred seating, four complimentary bottles of wine, recognition in ball program, special introduction at the ball and recognized as sponsor at the February First Friday Luncheon.
• Abe Lincoln - $1,850 for table of eight with preferred seating, two complimentary bottles of wine, recognition in ball program and special introduction at the ball.
• Eleanor Roosevelt - $1,100 for table of eight with preferred seating and recognition in ball program.
Cool Freddie E & the Crew will provide musical entertainment for the ball. Tickets are $75 each, with sponsorship opportunities available.
