| TISD asks parents to help define new attendance zones |
|
Tomball ISD invites parents to volunteer for the Attendance Zone Realignment Committee to create new junior high and high school attendance boundaries. In August 2011, the district plans to open its second high school campus, Tomball Memorial High School, located at Northpointe Boulevard and Northpointe Lane. The new campus will initially serve students in grades nine and ten. The board of trustees has charged the committee to determine the new attendance boundaries based on junior high and high school feeder patterns. Therefore, students attending Tomball Junior High would attend Tomball High School and those attending Willow Wood Junior High would attend Tomball Memorial High School. The new junior high attendance zones would begin in the fall of 2010. In addition, the realignment committee will work with a demographic consultant and jointly develop options for the new attendance boundaries. The committee will make a recommendation to the Board of Trustees, who will review and set the new attendance zones. The committee will be comprised of ten parents as well as district and campus administrators. Parents can find the registration form to serve on the committee online. Forms are also available at each campus. Only one form will be accepted for each applicant. The online registration form can be accessed at www.tomballisd.net. Click on “Attendance Zones” and then “Junior High Realignment Process.” Two parent volunteers from each of the five district zones will be selected during a random drawing. A map of the five zones is also available online. If no one or if only one name is submitted for a zone, the district will fill the two positions with individuals nominated by the campus principal(s) within the open zone. Parent volunteers must have students attending a least one Tomball ISD school. Return the completed form to your child’s school. Forms may also be faxed to 281-357-3180, hand delivered or mailed it to the Tomball ISD Ancillary Services Department at
