| Waller Chamber to host candidate's forum ahead of March primaries |

Just one month into 2010 and election season is already gaining steam. The joint primary is set for March 2 and the Waller Area Chamber of Commerce is providing county residents a chance to get to know the candidates. The Chamber is hosting a candidate forum Thursday, Feb. 18 at the First United Methodist Fellowship Hall, located at 1207 Farr St. in Waller. The forum will take place from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Invitations have been extended to the following candidates seeking county office: candidates for County Judge, 155th District Court Judge, County Court at Law Judge, County Clerk, Commissioner Pct. 2, and Justice of the Peace for Pct. 2 and Pct. 3. A meet and greet with the candidates will be held from 6:30 to 7 p.m., with the forum beginning promptly at 7 pm. The following candidates will appear on the ballot: County Judge - Republicans Glenn Beckendorff, Ralph Franz and Paul Wood, Democrat Dororthy Bottos; 155th District Court Judge - Republicans Conrad Day, Jeff Steinhauser, RJ Parham and Gary Chaney, Democrat Alan Folger; County Court at Law Judge - Republican June Jackson, Democrats Erica Hugjes and Roy Murphy III; County Clerk - Republicans Debbie Hollan and Louse Avery; Pct. 2 County Commissioner - Republicans Don Garrett, Frank Pokluda and Bill Jordan; Pct. 2 Justice of the Peace - Republicans Russell Klecka and Delores Hargrave; Pct. 3 Justice of the Peace - Republicans Carrie Robinson, Brian Murray-Wachtendorf, Milton Whiting and E.L. Overby, Democrats Johnny Johnson, Karen Anne Maresh and Marian Elaine Jackson. The candidates will each be given an allotted amount of time to speak about themselves, their qualifications and their positions on the issues. Candidates will also be allowed to answer questions from the audience. "With all of the challenges facing Waller County with the impending growth in our area, the Waller Area Chamber is excited to provide the public with an opportunity to become more informed in regards to the candidates who want an opportunity to address those challenges," Trey Duhon, President of the Chamber siad. "This is about information, and information is power. Voters need to make informed decisions." The public is invited and there is no charge to attend.
