|
The Collings Foundation’s Wings of Freedom Tour will return to Tomball’s David Wayne Hooks Airport March 12-15 and will feature three of the most famous World War II bomber and fighter aircrafts in existence. The “living history” event will bring to town a North American P-51 Mustang, a Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress and a Consolidated B-24 Liberator. The aircraft will be available for tours on March 12 from 2 to 5 p.m., March 13 from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., March 14 from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and March 15 from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Walk-through tours are $12 for adults and $6 for children 12 years and younger. In addition to the tours, the Collings Foundation is offering opportunities to fly aboard the B-17 or B-24 for a 30-minute trip. Flight experiences are $425 per person. Half hour and full hour flights on the P-51 are also available. Flight experiences are a tax-deductible donation. To make a reservation for a flight, call 800-568-8924. No reservations are needed for walk-through tours. The Collings Foundations is a 501c3 non-profit educational foundation. In its 21st year, the Wings of Freedom Tour visits an average of 110 cities and 35 states annually. According to the Foundation, the tour is “a flying tribute to the flight crews who flew them, the ground crews who maintained them, the workers who built them, the soldiers, sailors and airmen they helped protect; and the citizens and families that share the freedom that they helped preserve.”
