Waller’s bareback riding star Clint Cannon once again competed at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (HLSR) recently after earning top honors in last year’s competition.

At this year’s event, Cannon once again placed in the top 10 overall, earning eight place with 74.5 points.

He placed ninth overall in money earnings out of 33 competitors, earning $5,000.

Cannon, 30, took home the top prize in the Bareback Championship Shootout at the 2009 HLSR after earning a record-breaking score of 92.

The Waller native was the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association bareback rookie of the year in 2003 and won $59,500 as the first place finisher in the 2009 competition — the most money awarded that year.
