YMCA accepting registration for fall youth sports programs

The Magnolia/Tomball YMCA is now accepting registrations for the Fall Youth Sports program. The registration deadline is Aug. 30. The sports to be offered include soccer for ages 3 to 11, NFL Flag Football for ages 6 to 13 and volleyball for ages 7 to 13. (Age eligibility as of Sept. 1, 2010).

YMCA Youth Sports encourages and promotes healthy and strong kids, families and communities by placing a priority on family involvement; healthy competition rather than rivalry, the value of participation over winning, team building as well as individual development, a positive self-image and a sense of fair play and mutual respect for others. Caring volunteer adult coaches create an asset-rich environment in which children learn and practice the core values of responsibility, honesty, caring, respect and faith. The YMCA supports the healthy development of kids.

The YMCA is a volunteer-based organization. We strongly encourage parents to be more than spectators by getting involved as volunteer coaches, team parents and officials as well as being your child’s biggest fan. All volunteer coaches are required to be certified through the YMCA Rookie Coaches Course. If you are interested in volunteering, please call the YMCA Sports Director at 281-356-4077.

One of the many goals of the YMCA is not to turn anyone way because of inability to pay. We offer limited financial assistance to individuals and families who substantiates a need, so that YMCA programs are accessible to every person in our community regardless of age, gender, religion, ethnicity or income level. Lives are impacted everyday thanks to the generosity of members and donors to the Partners Giving Campaign.

To register, stop by the YMCA located at 36725 FM 1774 in Magnolia or

call us at 281-356-4077. Online registration is available at www.ymcahouston.org. Registrations received after the Aug. 30 deadline incur a late fee. For more information, call 281-356-4077.
