Waller volleyball takes EMS ISD Tourney title

whs volleyball The Waller High School Lady Bulldogs ended the first week of the 2010 volleyball season with a 9-0 record. The Lady Bulldogs opened their season at Conroe High School with a dual match between Conroe (25-14, 22-25, 25-20, 25-27, 15-10) and Bryan (25-21, 25-16, 25-20).

 

The kill leader of the night was Tori Bradbury, who had 21. Lindsey Yanchak led the team with six aces and Kamryn Dimas led with 38 assists.

 

The Lady Bulldogs traveled to Fort Worth Aug. 12 to play in the Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD Varsity Tournament.  On Aug. 12 Waller defeated Alvarado (25-10, 25-18) and Arlington Bowie (25-6, 25-21). The following day, the Lady Bulldogs knocked off Haltom (23-25, 26-24, 25-21), South Grand Prairie (25-6, 25-23) and Bastrop (26-24, 25-22) to finish first in their six-team pool.

 

On Aug. 14, the Bulldogs played in the gold championship bracket and defeated Gatesville (25-20, 25-27) and Springtown (26-24, 25-17) to earn the tournament championship.

 

Seniors Emily Wood and Tori Bradbury and Sophomore Morgan Heise were named to the All-Tournament Team by the coaches in the tournament. Bradbury led the team in kills for the tournament with 42. Wood led with 68 digs and Heise led with 12 service aces. Kamryn Dimas was the assist leader with 76.
