Waller HS volleyball still playing strong with 22-6 record

The Waller Lady Bulldog varsity volleyball team finished the fourth week of the season with a 22–6 record. On Tuesday, Aug. 31, Caldwell (25-22, 23-25, 25-22, and 25-18) was defeated and on Friday, Sept. 3, Waller knocked off Tarkington (19-25, 26-24, 20-25, 25-23, and 15-11).

The varsity team competed in the Santa Fe Varsity Tournament on Sept. 2 and 4, finishing in fourth place out of 28 teams. Galena Park (25-14, 25-19), Pasadena Memorial (25-21, 17-25, 25-19) and Port Neches-Groves (25-18, 23-25, 26-24) fell to the Lady Bulldogs, and Santa Fe (16-25, 22-25), La Porte (25-15, 22-25, 16-25) and Santa Fe (19-25, 15-25) edged Waller.

Senior McCale Fite and junior Kamryn Dimas were voted to the All-Tournament team. The kill leaders for the week were Fite and Tori Bradbury with 55 each. Lindsey Yanchak added 54 kills for the week. Dimas and Fite each had eight service aces for the week. Dimas led the team in assists with 164. Emily Wood led the team with 159 digs for the week. Fite was named the Player of the Week.
