| Waller falls to state-ranked Brenham |
|
The Waller Bulldogs fell short against the No. 2 state ranked Brenham Cubs 34-10 Oct. 1 at Waller ISD Stadium. The Bulldogs were currently 1-1 in district play at press time last week. Defensively, the Bulldogs held a potent Cub’s offense to 12 first downs, 178 yards rushing and 94 yards passing, all well below the Cub’s season averages. The Bulldogs forced two field goals by making big plays to stall Cub drives. Jacobie White and Jordan Hamilton led the Bulldog attack by stopping up the middle and forcing backs outside. Offensively, the Bulldogs were led by Deandre Bell, David McDade, D.J. Johnson and Chris Carroll. Bell had 150 yards rushing. Carroll, seeing his first offensive action of the year, had 43 yards. McDade added the touchdown. D.J. Johnson made a spectacular one-handed grab in tight man to man coverage on a critical third down play to keep a Bulldog drive alive.
