Waller falls to Montgomery Bears, 14-7

The Waller Bulldogs fell to the Montgomery Bears 14-7 Oct. 8.  The Bulldogs are now 2-4 on the season and 1-2 in district play.

Defensively, the Bulldogs held the district’s most potent offense to 14 points. Montgomery had been averaging more than 40 points per game. The defensive front for Waller applied pressure to the quarterback all night and had multiple sacks, while the linebacking crew kept All-State running back Leroy Dobbins in check. The secondary limited Bear receivers to no touchdowns when they had been averaging three per game.

Offensively, the Bulldogs were limited by a stingy Bear defense. David McDade scored the Bulldogs’ lone touchdown on the evening with a 3-yard plunge.

On special teams, Rod Hill showed his dashing speed with two returns for 103 yards. Hill nearly broke the second return for a touchdown before being pushed out of bounds by the last possible defender.

Waller took on the the Northbrook Raiders Oct. 15 at Waller. Results of that game were unavailable at press time.
