Even though the Tomball Cougars’ historic 2010 football season has come to a close, the accolades continue to roll in. Last week, the 13-5A All-District Team was announced and the Cougars had no shortage of representation. Following their 9-3 season that saw the Cougars make it through to the third round of the Division 2 5A playoffs, the team garnered 13 spots combined on the First and Second Teams. Earning First Team honors were senior offensive lineman Kaleb Brigman, senior wide receiver Hunter Thompson, senior linebacker Kevin Jackson and senior defensive back Malcolm Scott, who as a unanimous selection was also named to the First Team as a punt returner. Second Team recognition went to senior offensive lineman Cody Burns, junior quarterback Justin Dvorak, senior running back Brandon Green, who was also named as Second Team kick returner, senior wide receiver, Montrell Logan, senior defensive lineman Dalton Tuley, junior linebacker Kyle Harden, senior defensive back Raymel Stevenson and punter Jared Heim. Dvorak was one of the district’s all around performers. He threw for 1,970 yards on 157-for-251 passing and 16 touchdowns, while running 144 time for 706 yards and 10 scores. As the Cougars’ primary running back, Green rushed for 940 yards on 155 carries and eight touchdowns. Thompson and Logan were perhaps the best pass-catching duo in the district, with Thompson reeling 43 passes for 569 yards and four touchdowns, while Logan caught 33 passes for 631 yards and six touchdowns. Scott was the defense’s top performer this year, picking off a district-best 10 passes, which was good for second in the greater Houston area. Klein Collins, which won the district and finished the season 11-1, had the most overall selections with 17. Klein Oak put 15 players on the All-District team. This year’s Player of the Year in 13-5A was Dekaney running back Trey Williams, who rushed for 2,290 yards and 20 touchdowns. His 2010 rushing total was eighth best in the state.
