Rosehill Christian Eagles start postseason play

The Rosehill Christian Lady Eagles clinched the girls’ basketball district title Feb. 15 with a victory over Faith West Academy from Katy. Senior Emily Sebo led the scoring with 20 points along with sophomore Jordan Boyce, who also contributed 20.

Junior Karly Krantz scored 19 points and senior Jessica Woodard added 16 points for the well-rounded attack.  This is the second year in a row the Lady Eagles have claimed the TAPPS District 7-3A championship.  The Lady Eagles are coached by 12-year veteran Steve Krantz and Assistant Coach Brent Longnecker.

Their overall record is 28–7 with an undefeated district record of 8-0.  The Rosehill Lady Eagles will look to again advance to the state tournament, scheduled for March 4 and 5.  They began their journey with their first playoff game last week against San Juan Diego Catholic of Austin. Results of that game were unavailable at press time last week.

The Rosehill Eagles boys’ team also finished district play with a win against Faith West Academy.  Juniors John Ogle and Wayne McCullough led the scoring with 17 points each.  Junior Jimmy Courtright scored 8 points, sophomore Breck Powers added 6 and four other Eagles contributed for a 53-27 win.

The Rosehill Eagles finished third in their district and faced First Baptist Christian in Pasadena last week in Pasadena for their first playoff game. The Eagles are coached by Ed Lamar and assistant, Jonathan Whitson.  They went into the playoffs with an overall record of 21-13 and district record of 4-4.
