Magnolia’s Odom headed to East Texas Baptist

Caitlyn Odom, a senior volleyball standout at Magnolia High School, has verbally announced her intention to attend East Texas Baptist University (ETBU) to continue her education and play volleyball for the Tigers.

A 2010 All-District middle blocker at Magnolia, Odom had a .411 kill percentage and a .243 hitting percentage as a senior. Magnolia advanced to the 2010 regional semifinals during Odom’s senior season, after earning trips to the regional quarterfinals in 2009 and a state semifinal appearance in 2008.

Odom excelled in the classroom, with Academic All-District honors to go along with a TGCA Academic All-State recognition last season.
Caitlyn is the daughter of Greg and Karen Odom and will major in Biology at ETBU.

“The small size and friendly atmosphere were the first things I noticed at ETBU,” she said. “When I visited, the volleyball girls were all welcoming and reminded me of my current team. I look forward to contributing to the volleyball program and enjoying the campus.”

East Texas Baptist University is a four-year Christian liberal arts university located in Marshall, Texas. The Lady Tiger volleyball program has won three American Southwest Conference championships, four ASC East Division championships and enters the 2011 season with a 10-year streak of making the conference’s postseason tournament.
