| Former Cougar Scott named to football All-Star game |
|
The marquee high school football All-Star game in the state of Texas will feature a Tomball flair as one of the standouts from the Cougar squad of 2010-11 was selected to the team. Malcolm Scott, a defensive back for the Cougars last season, was selected to play in the 2011 Texas High School Coaches Association All-Start Game, scheduled for Tuesday, July 26. The game will be played at the newest palace of Texas football, Dallas Cowboy Stadium in Arlington, Texas, at 7:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on Fox Sports Southwest. Scott was chosen by the Association’s selection committee to be among the 76 players, representing all five classes of high school football in Texas, to take part in the game. He will suit up for the North All-Stars, which will be coached by Steve Warren, head coach of Abilene High School. Scott was the defensive leader of a Cougar football team that had its most successful season in decades in 2010, going 10-3 overall and winning two playoff games. He tied for second in the Houston area with 10 interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown. He also contributed 27 tackles. In the spring, Scott signed a letter of intent to play college ball at UT-San Antonio, which will begin Division I play next season. In all, 25 participants in this year’s All-Star game have signed offers with Division I programs. Players are selected to the game by a six-person committee that includes representatives from one high school each among Texas’ five classifications, as well as chairman Joe McBride from Coppell High School.
