| Tomball, Magnolia inch closer to district volleyball titles |

Tomball Lady Cougars The Tomball Lady Cougars got a measure of revenge on Oct. 14, in avenging their only district loss to Klein Collins back in September. The Lady Cougars won 25-22, 25-22, 21-25 and 30-28 and were led by Roxanne McVey’s 22 kills. Sydney Ziober added 17 kills, while Kaili Birkner added 10 and Caitlin Diaz had six blocks. Hannah Jones contributed 25 digs and Tiffany Kroll had 58 assists.
Tomball then hosted Spring DeKaney on Oct. 18 and won handily, 25-9, 25-19 and 25-19. Diaz and McVey both had eights kills for the Lady Cougars.
The victories improved Tomball to 28-9 on the season and into a first place tie with Klein Collins at 11-1.
Magnolia Lady Bulldogs Magnolia played their second match against cross-town rival Magnolia West on Oct. 14, winning by a score of 25-19, 25-19 and 25-18. Kylie Randall led the Lady Bulldogs with 22 kills, while Shayna Daniels pumped out 22 assists. Alyssa Fulgium added 13 assists and Carly Cuevas had 12 digs.
Magnolia then hosted Northbrook, routing them in three games 25-3, 25-9 and 25-16. Randall and Chelsea Reynolds both had eight kills, while Morgan Miller added 10 assists. Audrey Cassata contributed seven digs and five assists in the win.
The victories improved the Lady Bulldogs to 26-14 for the season and 10-2 in district play.
Waller Lady Bulldogs The Waller Lady Bulldog varsity volleyball team avenged an earlier loss in defeating Magnolia West (25-18, 25-18, and 25-21) on Oct. 11 The Lady Bulldogs also defeated Northbrook (25-10, 25-11, 25-16) Oct. 14.
Junior Taylor Thomas led the varsity team with 17 kills for the week. Junior Morgan Heise led the team with 17 digs. Junior Billie Pringle led the team with 31 assists. Halle Hayes was the player of the week.
The Lady Bulldogs are 29-7 for the season and 7-4 in district play.
Magnolia West Lady Mustangs Magnolia West endured a tough stretch recently in losing to rival Magnolia and to Brenham.
The Lady Mustangs fell to Magnolia 19-25, 19-25 and 18-25 on Oct. 14. Samantha Sellers led Magnolia West with 14 kills and four aces, while Katelin Petrovich contributed 25 assists.
The Lady Mustangs then traveled to Brenham to take on the Lady Cubs on Oct. 18. Magnolia West fell 17-25, 23-25, 25-22 and 19-25. Kyla Ellis had 10 assists, 19 digs and two blocks to pace the Lady Mustangs, while Karli Nanny added 17 digs and 20 kills.
The losses dropped Magnolia West to 16-19 overall and 5-7 in district play.
