Tough week for Tomball, Magnolia West; Concordia Lutheran keeps cruising

It was a mixed bag of results for area football teams, as Tomball’s Concordia Lutheran and Christian Home School kept up their winning ways, while Magnolia West and Tomball both fell.

Houston Stratford              51

Magnolia West Mustangs  13

Houston Stratford scored 35 first half points and never looked back, cruising to a 51-13 win over Magnolia West.

Things looked good for the Mustangs early as quarterback Tyler Anderson found Tyoka Neal for a 31-yard touchdown strike, to put Magnolia West up 6-0 early.

The bottom then fell out, as Stratford rolled off 28 straight points before West’s Desmond Richards found the end zone late in the second quarter. Richards eight-yard touchdown cut the lead to 28-13, but that would be as close as the Mustangs would get.

Stratford finished with nearly 400 yards in the air to cruise in the District 17-4A contest and take sole possession of second place. Meanwhile, Magnolia West dropped its second district game of the season, falling into a three way tie for third with Waller and Montgomery.

Richards had 145 yards on 16 carries for the Mustangs.

Magnolia West hosted Spring Woods on Oct. 28. Results were not available as of press time.

Concordia Lutheran Crusaders 64

Fort Bend Christian                     24

The Crusaders rolled off an astounding 642 yards rushing while thrashing Fort Bend Christian 64-24 on Oct. 21.

The Crusaders ran to a 50-14 halftime lead, enabling the backups to get some valuable varsity experience in the game.

Chance Gray rushed for 183 yards on nine carries and two touchdowns on the night, while Eddie Brucculeri added 171 yards on eight rushes and two more scores.

Quarterback Nathan Potter was 4-6 for 132 yards in the air, with one touchdown pass. He added 19 yards on the ground and another touchdown.  Jacob Bahr caught Potter’s lone touchdown throw, a 79-yard bomb for a score.

The win kept the TAPPS Division II state-ranked Crusaders undefeated on the year at 9-0 and 5-0 in district play.

The Crusaders traveled to Westbury Christian for a district matchup on Oct. 28. Results were not available as of press time.

Tomball Christian Warriors 75

West Columbia Charter         14

Jake Carr rushed for 78 yards on just three carries, while adding a touchdown. David Hiley added 52 yards on three carries and two scores, while Casey Lewis added 63 yards on five carries and a touchdown.
