| YMCA ready to kick off spring sports |
|
During the fall sports season, nearly 200 children participated along with 20 volunteer coaches. The fall sports season consists of football, soccer and volleyball. Youth Development Director Stephanie Saker said that the children in the fall sports season learn teamwork, sportsmanship, have positive adult role models and have fun. In addition to these factors the children are active, she explained. “With childhood obesity on the rise, our program helps provide two hours a week of physical activity,” Saker said. “We also ask the families to get involved whether through coaching or helping with team parties. It really brings the family together.” The Tomball/Magnolia YMCA will begin registration for the spring sports season Dec. 1 through Jan. 22. The spring season will consist of soccer and volleyball.
