Waller cruises through opening volleyball playoff rounds, Magnolia comes up short

In volleyball, the Waller Lady Bulldogs cruised through the first three rounds of playoff action, not losing a game, while Magnolia came up short in the third round, losing to Montgomery.

 

Waller Lady Bulldogs

Waller started off with a sweep of Kingwood Park, winning 26-24, 25-18 and 25-22. Taylor Thomas led Waller with 10 kills.

 

The Lady Bulldogs then took on Goose Creek Memorial from Baytown, and again won in a sweep (25-17, 25-20 and 25-18). Thomas was the kills leader with 15.

 

Waller then took on Livingston in the Regional Quarterfinals. Once again the Lady Bulldogs dominated play, winning 25-22, 28-26 and 25-16. The win pushed Waller into the Regional Semifinals against Friendswood Nov. 11. Results were not available as of press time.

 

Magnolia Lady Bulldogs

Magnolia’s second straight trip to the state playoffs ended Nov. 8, after a heartbreaking loss to Montgomery in the Regional Quarterfinals, 23-25, 25-22, 25-22, 23-25 and 15-13. Kylie Randall led the Lady Bulldogs with 12 kills.

 

Magnolia advanced to regional play by destroying Orange Little Cypress-Mauriceville (25-11, 25-10, 25-21) and Huntsville (25-10, 25-12, 25-14) in area play.

 

The Lady Bulldogs finished 29-14 on the season and were district champions for the second straight year.
