Concordia Lutheran Lady Crusaders

The Tomball Concordia Lady Crusaders had a tough outing against Klein Oak, Dec. 6, falling 56-40 to the large public school.

The Lady Crusaders jumped out to a 12-8 lead after one period, but Klein Oak looked to take control in the second. Concordia was outscored 19-11 in the period and headed into halftime trailing 27-23.

Klein Oak kept slowly building the lead in the second half, however, wearing down the Lady Crusaders and taking the victory. Katelyn Holland led the Lady Crusaders with 17 points.

Concordia took on Cy-Woods at home on Dec. 16; however, results were not available as of press time.

Waller Lady Bulldogs

The Waller Lady Bulldogs opened district play by routing the Spring Woods Lady Tigers, Dec. 6. The Lady Bulldogs got a jump on Spring Woods from the very start. Waller took an early 15-2 lead in the first with good defense and some fast break points.

The Lady Tigers fought back in the second period by putting up 11, but the Lady Bulldogs answered every one. The second half mirrored the first and Waller proved to be too much for Spring Woods to handle, winning 53-24.

Brittany Houle led the way with 17 points, eight rebounds, and two blocks. Jessica Coleman also added 11 points and six rebounds and Lydia Brooks pitched in nine points, 11 rebounds, five steals, and two assists.

The Lady Bulldogs then traveled to Brenham for another district contest Dec. 9. Brenham took an early lead, but Waller fought back and by the half, Brenham was up only 19-17.

Waller came out in the second half ready to work. Despite the tremendous effort by the Lady Bulldogs, the Cubettes proved too much and took a 40-38 victory over Waller.

Brittany Houle earned a double-double with 13 rebounds and 10 points. Lydia Brooks added nine points, and Briana Knowles pitched in seven.

Magnolia Lady Bulldogs

Magnolia’s Lady Bulldogs experienced two completely different games recently, as they won a close one against Stratford Dec. 6 and destroyed Spring Woods Dec. 9.

After a defensive struggle led to an eight-all tie after one quarter against Stratford, the Lady Bulldogs dominated the second period to take a 23-16 lead at the half.

Stratford came right back and tied the game in the third period, however, using a 15-8 run to do it.

Magnolia’s defense went into lockdown mode in the final period to take a hard fought 42-35 victory over their district rival. Allison Abendschein led the Lady Bulldogs with 11 points.

Magnolia then took on Spring Woods in another district 17-4A contest.

A 23-2 opening period set the tone for the game, as the Lady Bulldogs went into the half leading 34-4.

Magnolia was on cruise control the rest of the game and won by a final score of 59-19 to improve to 8-6 on the season and 3-0 in district play. Caitlin Lawrence led the Lady Bulldogs with 10 points, while Toni Frederick added eight.

Magnolia West Lady Mustangs

The Magnolia West Lady Mustangs have had a frustrating season to this point, but showed signs of coming out of it recently.

The Lady Mustangs took it on the chin Dec. 9 as they traveled to Montgomery to take on the Lady Bears.

Montgomery doubled up Magnolia West in the first period 16-8. The Lady Mustang defense couldn’t stop the Lady Bears the rest of the way, as Magnolia West fell 73-37 in the District 17-4A contest.

Mary Baer led the Lady Mustangs with 11 points.

Magnolia West then hosted Northbrook on Dec. 13 and held a 29-11 halftime lead.

The Lady Mustangs didn’t hit the brakes, however, as they outscored Northbrook 19-9 in the third period and 14-4 in the final period to coast to a 62-24 victory. The win was Magnolia West’s second of the season.

Taylor Parsons led the team with 13 points, while Mary Baer poured in 12. Michelle Deleon added nine points and Alexis Jenkins contributed eight in the win.
