The Magnolia Bulldogs continued their winning ways, adding two victories just days after taking the Splendora Tournament title.

Magnolia rolled over Montgomery County rival Willis 89-68, thanks to a big third quarter run.

After taking a 45-37 halftime lead, the Bulldogs broke it open in the third period, outscoring Willis 23-13, opening up an 18 point lead.

Magnolia would cruise through the final period in getting their 10th victory of the season.

Josh Bearden led the Bulldogs with 26 points, while Jesse Jones added 19. Alex Hardee was the third Bulldog with double figures scoring 15.

Magnolia then hosted Stratford Dec. 16, using another strong third period to secure a win.

After Stratford raced out to an 18-15 lead, the Bulldogs came back with a strong second period to take a 34-33 lead into halftime.

Magnolia then rallied after halftime, taking control of the game 56-41. Stratford fought to get back in the game, but the Bulldogs stood their ground, taking a 77-60 win.

Jones and Bearden led four players in double figures with 21 points each. Hardee added 14, while Tyler Clark contributed 10 points.

Magnolia West Mustangs

Magnolia West has found the going a bit rough this season, but looked to get out of it with a close 62-61 win over San Antonio Cole Dec. 17.

Andrew Ellwanger was a one-man scoring machine, pouring in more than half (35) of the Bulldogs points in the contest.

The victory was the Mustangs third of the season.

Magnolia West then traveled to Houston Northbrook Dec. 20, looking to start a win streak. It wasn’t to be, however, as Northbrook took it to the Mustangs 66-55.

Ellwanger was the leading scorer for the Mustangs with 21 points.

Tomball Cougars

The Cougars have had an up and down season so far and after a tough week, are struggling to stay above .500.

Tomball traveled to state-ranked Cy-Falls Dec. 16 and fought valiantly, before coming up short.

The Cougars found themselves trailing by just five 46-41, heading into the final period, but Cy-Falls broke through in the final period to take the 77-58 victory.

Matt Clark led Tomball with 17 points, while Cody Chaffin added 12.

It didn’t get any easier for the Cougars in their next contest, as they hosted 10th-ranked The Woodlands.

Tomball again gave a ranked opponent a battle, before finally succumbing in the second half, losing 59-44.

Tyler Pavlas and Marqueese Grayson led the Cougars with 10 points each.

The pair of losses dropped Tomball to 8-6 on the year.
