| Thirteen Tomball seniors receive sports scholarships |
|
At left, the Tomball Athletic Booster Club provided $1,000 scholarships to 13 Tomball High School seniors.
Each student submitted an application, which included an essay, recommendations from their teacher and coach and the student’s sports participation. The scholarship selection committee was comprised of TABC members and a community member. This year’s community representative was Greater Tomball Area Chamber of Commerce President Bruce Hillegeist.
The scholarships are funded by proceeds from TABC fundraisers including the Cougar football program sales and the softball/baseball concession stands. The purpose of the TABC is to assist, promote and help support all athletic teams and programs of Tomball High School. TABC honors all athletes with fall, winter and spring recognition ceremonies, provides scholarships for senior athletes of current members, provides a pre-season meal for each athlete/each sport, and complements the athletic department by helping coaches fulfill their sports “wish list” items, as funds are available. Membership is open to families as well as local community businesses/supporters.
TABC is a 501c(3) non-profit organization, and is funded through membership dues, football program ads and sales, spring concession stand sales, and spirit sales.Monthly meetings are held year-round the third Monday of the month at 7 p.m. in the Tomball High School Field House.
