Waller’s Porter signs to play volleyball at Southwestern Oklahoma State University

porter Waller High School senior Kristie Porter signed a national letter of intent last week to play college volleyball for Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU). Porter’s signing marks the second Waller High School volleyball player from this year’s varsity team. Porter plans on studying Biology and hopes to become a dental hygienist, a profession that she learned about at the Waller High School Career Day event. She recently played Texas Select Volleyball and placed first at a Ft. Worth tournament and first at the Houston Tournament. Other winnings include placing third while playing with Texas Elite in the Lone Star Regionals. Porter’s mom, Cissy, said “Kristie always loved volleyball. She would take out my volleyball medals and trophies from the closet when she was younger and line them up along the shelves. Today, she has her own collection displayed where mine once stood.”
