Golf tourney to benefit troops serving overseas

Operation Lone Star – Texans Supporting Our Troops, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, is hosting a golf tournament July 25 at WindRose Golf Club, 6235 Pinelakes Blvd., in Spring. Proceeds from the tournament will be used to send care packages, heaters, fans, ballistic eyewear, phone cards or whatever is needed to troops now serving in Iraq, Afghanistan and other dangerous locations.

The fee is $100 per golfer. Registration begins at 6:30 a.m. with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. There will be closest to the pin and long drive holes as well as a trip to Las Vegas and a Caribbean cruise for a hole in one at designated holes.

There will be a barbecue buffet and awards banquet immediately following play, at which time trophies will be awarded.
