Local pair headed to Junior Olympics

aiden vennard Aiden Vennard qualified for the National Junior Olympics by placing first in the 1,500-meter race and second in both the shot put and mini-javelin at the Region XII Track and Field championships held at Barnett Stadium in Houston July 7-11. Vennard will compete at the Junior Olympics July 31 through Aug. 2 in Greensboro, N.C. as a member of the Northwest Flyers track club.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

mhs olympic runner Emily Hill, a junior at Magnolia High School, will be competing in the USA Track and Field National Junior Olympics in Greensboro, N.C. in July. She qualified by winning Region XII (Texas) in the 1,500-meter run for 17-18 year olds despite only being 16. She placed fourth in the 800-meter at the Regional Championships for 17-18 year olds. During the school year as a sophomore, she competed in the 800-meter at the varsity level and was a Region III-4A qualifier. Hill was also named as a top runner for the 2008-09 school year.
