Waller falls to Nederland despite solid defensive performance

pierce The Waller Bulldogs traveled to Nederland on Sept. 11 to take on the Nederland Bulldogs. Waller fell short 27-23, but showed more improvement on the season entering into district play.

Offensively, the Bulldogs out gained Nederland 346 to 295 yards. Miller Pierce led the way with 188 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Greg Allen added another receiving touchdown. Will Garcia added to the scoring with a 36-yard field goal. Christ Tompkins had a big reception for a first down, gaining 18 yards on a third and 12.

Chris Carroll rolled up 80 yards rushing on the night.

Defensively, the Bulldogs held Nederland to 295 yards of offense.  Unfortunately, some bad situations put the Waller defense in a hole. Nederland had three positive end possessions that started on the Waller 4, 8 and 17-yard lines, respectively. Nederland was able to convert these for 20 of their 27 points.

The offensive MVP for the game was Miller Pierce (above), while Keith White picked up defensive MVP honors.

The Bulldogs had the week off last weekend, but return to action on Sept. 25 against the Magnolia Bulldogs. The game will be in Waller at 7:30 pm.
