Waller picks up first win with victory over Magnolia West

kwiatowski The Waller Bulldogs defeated the Magnolia West Mustangs 32-8 on Oct. 16.  The Bulldogs struck early, built a 19-0 halftime lead, and never looked back.

Defensively, the Bulldogs were led by BJ Kwiatkowski, Eric Huffman, David McDade and Keith White.

Kwiatkowski and Jordan Hamilton each returned interceptions for touchdowns.  Both interceptions were made possible by the pressure of Jordan Ondijo. Waller’s Darius Nash, Jordan Gooden, Deandre Bell, Alex Ramirez and Art Musgrove also contributed to the defensive effort up front. Chad Madden, Christ Tompkins, Miller Pierce, Kalyn Utz, and Jyrin Broussard all played well in the secondary. Miller Pierce chipped in with an opening drive interception.

Offensively, the Bulldogs had their most complete performance of the year on the way to Waller’s first victory of the season.  The offense was led by the offensive line of Jason Lafferty, Alex McFaddin, Pat Villareal, Sean Mangum and Matt Leviner.

Magnolia West’s lone touchdown came in the fourth quarter on a two-yard run by Josh Logan.

Standouts for the Mustangs included Hayden Parsons, who ran 15 times for 95 yards, and Derek Coburn, who picked up 81 yards on 19 carries.

With the win, the Bulldogs move to 1-6 on the season and 1-3 in district.

Meanwhile, the Mustangs drop to 3-4 overall and 2-2 in district play, with three games remaining in the season at press time.
