Magnolia/Tomball YMCA opens new fields

ymca fields A grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony for the Magnolia Parkway Sports Fields was held on Jan. 5. The Magnolia/Tomball Family YMCA will collaborate with Magnolia ISD and oversee the fields until the third Magnolia junior high school is built. During this time, the YMCA will be using the fields for its youth sports programs, practices and games.

Sports offered at the YMCA include soccer, flag football, t-ball and baseball. The first sports season on the new fields will begin in April with T-Ball and baseball.

The Magnolia Family YMCA Spring Youth Sports program will include baseball. Boys and girls ages 3 – 15 are eligible to register. Registration deadline is March 29.

The YMCA is a volunteer-based organization that strongly encourages parents to be more than spectators by getting involved as volunteer coaches, team parents and officials. All volunteer coaches are required to be certified through the YMCA Rookie Coaches Course. Anyone interested in volunteering should call Kira in the Youth Sports Dept at 281-356-4077.

For more information on YMCA Youth Sports and Spring/Summer programs, call the Magnolia Family YMCA at 281-356-4077 or visit www.ymcahouston.org.
