Cougar track members among state’s best

The Tomball High School varsity boys and girls track and field teams competed in the Magnolia ISD meet at Magnolia West High School on Feb. 21, along with 20 other teams.

At the meet, Kenya McDaniel finished second in the girls long jump, Jenny Smith placed third in the girls high jump, Stephanie Patton won first place in the girls 300-meter hurdles and Caitlyn Tate placed third in the girls 1600-meter run.

Smith is among the best high jumpers in the state. Her jump of 5 feet, 4 inches at the Spring Relays on Feb. 14 is the sixth best jump so far in the state.

Patton’s mark of 45.15 seconds in the 300-meter hurdles is the best in the state this year.

The boys team placed in enough events to take second place among all teams in the boys competition.

Ryan Tilotta ranks among the top 10 in the state in the boys 3200-meter run with a time of 9 minutes, 55 seconds, which he also recorded at the Spring Relays.
