THS softball team to ‘Paint the Yard Pink’ for breast cancer awareness

Mark your calendars for the Tomball High School softball team’s second annual “Paint the Yard Pink” game against Spring High School on Friday, March 26.  The junior varsity game begins at 5 p.m. at the THS softball complex, located at 30330 Quinn Road.  The varsity pregame ceremony will begin at 6:45 p.m. and will feature friends and co-workers who are breast cancer survivors who will throw out the first pitch. The varsity game will begin at 7 p.m. The Tomball Cougars will wear pink jerseys during the game to generate awareness for breast cancer research and raise money for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. All attendees are encouraged to wear pink to the game.

There are other “Paint the Yard Pink” activities taking place prior to game day. On March 24, Chick-Fil-A, located at FM 2920 in Tomball in front of Target, will host a Pink Pep Rally from 5-8 p.m.  Fifteen percent of all proceeds, including drive-thru sales, during that time will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Pink lemonade will be sold and there will be a nugget-eating contest between the junior varsity and varsity teams at 6 p.m. as well as a lemon squeezing contest at 7 p.m. Pink Memory/Honor Cards will be available for a donation and will be displayed at the game on March 26.

The team is also selling pink t-shirts for $10 for youth sizes, small through adult XL. Adult sizes 2XL and 3XL are $12.  Five dollars from each t-shirt sold will also be donated.
